Grenada Projected Versus Actual Release
A projected date is a current estimate based on the controlling sentence and credits. MDOC calls its displayed estimate “Tentative Release.” That exact label matters because tentative, scheduled, and actual are not interchangeable. The date can move before departure. The actual release or discharge record is created after the agency processes the event.
Pretrial custody follows a different path. A person held at the Grenada County Adult Detention Center may have a bond setting or release order but no guaranteed departure time. Bond must be satisfied, the jail must receive and process the order, and all holds must clear. A court order supplies legal authority. The jail record supplies the physical-departure time.

- Decide whether the person is a Grenada County jail detainee, a county-sentenced inmate, or an MDOC state prisoner.
- For MDOC custody, search by last and first name. Repeat with the MDOC ID when known.
- Open the matching detail and verify identity, conviction county, location, sentence date, sentence length, and number of sentences.
- Record the exact “Tentative Release” value and the date the profile was checked. Treat it as an estimate.

Grenada MDOC Release-Date Fields
The MDOC detail contains more than one date and status clue. Entry Date, current Location, Unit, Location Change Date, Number of Sentences, Total Length, Sentence Length, County of Conviction, and Sentence Date all help explain the estimate. The profile may also display an MDOC photograph. A same-name match is not enough, especially when the search includes phonetic results.

Research did not verify a historical released-person toggle, a “Discharged” status, or an actual-release field in the public inmate tool. A fully released person may disappear. Try the MDOC ID, spelling variants, and the separate parolee search before asking Records for the actual discharge document. No result must not be converted into a release claim.
Mississippi Earned-Time Release Rules
A tentative date begins with controlling sentence terms and dates. MDOC then accounts for jail credit, whether terms run concurrently or consecutively, earned-time eligibility, credits earned or forfeited, restored credit, and authorized program or meritorious credit. Parole or earned-release supervision law can affect the route out of confinement. Discipline, a later court order, or an administrative correction can change the calculation.
Mississippi's current Code should control. The earned-time framework includes Miss. Code §§ 47-5-138, 47-5-138.1, 47-5-139, and 47-5-142. Parole eligibility is principally addressed in § 47-7-3 and offense-specific law. The provisions have been amended, so old summaries and informal calculators should not decide an individual date.
The often repeated “85% rule” is not universal arithmetic for every Mississippi inmate. Some covered sentences are constrained by an 85-percent service floor under the applicable earned-time framework. Offense type, offense date, exclusions, sentence structure, and later reforms matter. It is inaccurate to say every person gets 15 percent off or serves exactly 85 percent.
SB 2795 from 2021 is dated legislative history. It described categories and percentages for certain parole eligibility groups, but later-repealer language and possible later amendments make the current codified statute necessary. Eligibility is also not release. A parole decision, plan, holds, and agency processing remain.

Why Grenada Release Dates Change
A change is not automatically an error. It may reflect new data or a lawful event. Compare the prior profile with the current sentence and location fields, then ask the controlling agency to explain the computation rather than guessing from two screenshots.

A parole grant does not establish a walk-out date. Release planning, the eligibility date, processing, and outside holds remain. Likewise, reaching a tentative date may lead to transfer rather than community release when another authority has a valid hold.
Grenada Jail Release-Date Computation
The MDOC “Tentative Release” field usually is not the source for a county-jail sentence. Sheriff Garrett Hartley and the Grenada County Sheriff's Office operate the county facility. Ask for the commitment or order, sentence start, recorded jail credit, any lawful local credit, holds, and the actual release entry. No official Grenada publication disclosed a county good-time formula, weekend-release policy, or processing schedule.
The sentencing court supplies the legal terms. Grenada County Circuit Court is the felony and final-sentencing route, while Justice Court handles county misdemeanors and preliminary felony stages. A focused request should identify the full name, aliases, MDOC number, birth date if known, and conviction county. Ask for the actual release or discharge date, release authority, discharge record, sentence computation or time sheet, jail-credit record, eligibility-date record, and last facility. Request electronic delivery and a cost estimate. Some portions may be exempt or redacted.

Confirm Grenada Actual Release

Match the event to its system. A county record may say “released to MDOC,” which means county custody ended and state custody began. A parolee-search match means conditional community supervision, not discharge. A past BOP date means the person is no longer in BOP custody, but another authority or federal supervised release can still apply.
Use precise wording after confirmation: “tentative MDOC release date,” “actual release from Grenada County jail,” “transfer from Grenada County jail to MDOC,” “release from MDOC to parole,” or “full MDOC discharge.” Each phrase answers a different question and prevents a projected date from being reported as an event.
Preserve the date each source was checked. A court's filed date, MDOC's profile date, SAVIN's alert time, and a facility's departure time can all be valid while describing different stages. When they conflict, ask each custodian what its timestamp represents. Give priority to the jail or prison departure entry for physical release, the court docket for the legal order, and the receiving agency for a transfer admission.
A missing MDOC result is not a final date. Try the MDOC ID, name variants, and the parolee search. If those routes fail, request the actual release or discharge record through MDOC. For an older Grenada court case, account for the MEC start date and possible paper, restricted, sealed, or expunged records. An absent public page can reflect access limits rather than an event.
