Search Grenada County Released Inmates

Grenada County released inmates can leave a live jail listing before the record needed to confirm what happened is easy to find. A search for Grenada County released inmates should start with the custody system that last held the person, then pair its release entry with a court or notification record. Grenada County released inmates may have returned to the community, entered state custody, moved to another agency, or begun supervision. Each outcome has a different source. The full search path below separates county jail records from state, federal, court, and notification systems.

Grenada County Release Meanings

A name leaving Grenada County jail custody does not, by itself, show where the person went. The Grenada County Adult Detention Center may release someone to the community after bond, a dismissal, a court order, or completion of a local term. It may instead transfer the person to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, another county, federal authorities, or immigration authorities. A roster correction or technical outage can also remove a name without any physical move. The booking and release entry held by the Grenada County Sheriff's Office is the best local record of the event.

Release and discharge are not interchangeable. Release means departure from the named custody system. Discharge should be used only when the responsible agency says the sentence or status fully ended. Parole is conditional release from prison while the sentence continues. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence that may occur without prison. Sheriff Garrett Hartley leads the office that operates Grenada County's jail, but MDOC, a court, or another receiving agency controls its own later record.

Time served
The local custodial term has been satisfied, subject to any other hold.
Detainer
A request or authority that may cause a handoff to another agency.
Discharge
The complete end of the relevant sentence or status when the agency records it that way.
Expungement
A legal process that can change public visibility of an eligible case record.

Grenada County Release Paths

The next source depends on the release path. Court papers explain the legal authority, while the jail's operational entry shows whether staff processed a departure or transfer. The distinction prevents a county release from being mistaken for freedom from all custody.

Release pathWhat it meansWhere to verify next
Bond or release orderCounty jail custody ends while the case may remain open.Sheriff release entry and the proper court docket
Time served or local term completeThe local jail term ends, unless another hold applies.Jail record, sentence, and any later order
Transfer to MDOCGrenada County custody ends, but incarceration continues.MDOC Inmate Search and MDOC Records
ParolePrison confinement ends conditionally under supervision.MDOC parolee search and Community Corrections
Federal or immigration handoffOne agency releases the person to another.BOP, ICE, USMS records, or the receiving agency
Dismissal or nolle prosequiA case basis may end, though another matter can still hold the person.Court order plus the facility's actual departure entry

Can a court order prove release? It proves authority for the action. It does not prove the jail finished processing or that no second hold applied. Match it with the Grenada County release record.

Grenada County Release Record Fields

A narrow request is more useful than asking for every jail document. Identify the person and booking, then ask for fields that distinguish community departure from a transfer. Grenada County has not published an official online schema, so these are requested fields, not a promise that each appears in a public database.

FieldWhat it shows
Full name and booking numberConnects the release to the correct booking event.
Booking or arrest dateSeparates similar names and repeat bookings.
Actual release date and timeRecords when control changed, not when an order was signed.
Release disposition or authorityIdentifies bond, order, sentence completion, transfer, or another basis.
Releasing facilityNames the custody system that ended.
Destination or receiving agencyShows whether the event was a transfer rather than community release.
Recorded holdFlags another authority that may control the next move.
Booking photographLinks an existing arrest-processing image to that booking, subject to law.

Ask the custodian to define any local code. Generic jail sites can translate the same abbreviation in conflicting ways. A booking image does not show guilt, present custody, or present appearance, and its continued visibility does not mean the person returned to jail.

Note: Grenada County publishes no verified jail-record retention window, so request an older release promptly and ask which archive holds it.

Request Grenada County Release Records

Send a focused written request to the Grenada County Sheriff's Office after calling to confirm the current custodian and accepted delivery method. No official web form, records email, posted hours, local fee schedule, or retention rule was found. The official administrative contact is Sheriff Garrett Hartley, Grenada County Sheriff's Office, 35 Doak Street, Grenada, MS 38901, telephone 662-227-2877 and fax 662-227-2872.

  1. Provide the full name, date of birth if known, and approximate booking date. Add the booking number when available.
  2. Ask for the booking/release log entry or release sheet, actual date and time, disposition or authority, releasing facility, and receiving agency if transferred.
  3. Request the existing booking photograph separately and prefer electronic copies. Exclude investigative narratives and sensitive identifiers.
  4. Ask for an estimate of actual costs before work begins. No Grenada-specific copy fee is verified.
  5. If an item is withheld, ask for the specific authority and all reasonably separable nonexempt portions. If no record exists, ask for a written no-record response and the correct facility.

A telephone answer is fast, but the written record is durable. For a state sentence, use the MDOC GovQA request portal and identify the MDOC number, conviction county, and requested release or computation record. MDOC Records handles preliminary time, jail credit, and eligibility questions at 601-933-2889 or MDOCRecordsDepartment@mdoc.state.ms.us.

Grenada County Release Records Law

The Mississippi Public Records Act, Miss. Code §§ 25-61-1 et seq., broadly covers documentary material and photographs held by public bodies. Section 25-61-5 permits reasonable written procedures. When none apply, access is due within one working day. Procedures ordinarily cannot set a date later than seven working days. If production is not possible by then, the agency must give a specific written explanation and generally produce by fourteen working days unless the requester agrees otherwise.

Section 25-61-7 allows advance payment only for actual search, review, duplication, and mailing costs, calculated at the lowest competent employee rate. Section 25-61-12 can protect investigative reports. That is one reason a narrow request for the booking and release entry is better focused than a demand for a full case file. Exempt portions may be redacted while nonexempt parts are released. A denial should cite its exemption, and denial files must be kept for at least three years.

Sealed, juvenile, restricted, or expunged matters may have different public access. Miss. Code § 99-19-71 supplies the expungement framework, but eligibility is case-specific and can change. An expungement can alter public visibility without serving as proof of physical release.

The official Public Records Act page shows the state access framework used for a Grenada County release-record request.

Find Grenada County Released Inmates

Start with the last known custodian, not a single statewide name box. Grenada County jail detainees, MDOC prisoners, federal prisoners, and people transferred to ICE belong to separate systems. A reliable result names both the system that ended custody and the evidence used.

  1. For Grenada County jail custody, call the Sheriff's Office. Ask whether there was a physical release, a transfer, or a roster correction, then request the release entry.
  2. Check the correct court. Circuit Court handles felonies, Justice Court handles county misdemeanors and preliminary felony stages, and Municipal Court handles city matters.
  3. Use Mississippi SAVIN or VINELink for a specific person at a participating jail or MDOC. Read the event label and reporting agency literally.
  4. Search MDOC only when state custody or supervision applies. Its inmate tool has current placement and a tentative date, while the separate parolee tool may show conditional release.
  5. Use BOP for federal custody. Check ICE if an immigration handoff is plausible, and use the federal docket or USMS records when the chain has a gap.
  6. For older or absent results, request the operational release record from the Sheriff or MDOC and the final disposition from the proper clerk.

Important: A released person usually leaves a current-custody roster. Roster absence is weak evidence; the facility release entry documents what happened.

Match at least two identifiers, such as a booking number or MDOC ID plus a birth date, case number, conviction county, or facility. Keep event dates separate from record-entry dates. A court order may predate jail processing, and a notification can follow the agency's data entry.

Grenada County Release Court Search

Grenada County Circuit Court joined MEC on November 23, 2020. That date limits what a zero online result can mean. Older, paper-only, sealed, restricted, or expunged records may require direct clerk contact. Public online access through PAMEC requires registration. Current terms list a $10 annual non-attorney fee and $0.20 per returned page, including a one-page charge when a search returns zero results.

Choose the court first. Circuit Court holds felony prosecution and final sentencing records. Justice Court handles county misdemeanors, traffic matters, and early felony stages. Grenada Municipal Court handles city ordinances and city misdemeanors. Search for bond or release orders, dismissal or nolle prosequi, judgment, sentence, amended sentence, revocation, time served, or an expungement order. Then confirm the actual departure with the jail.

The PAMEC registration page is the online entry point for eligible Grenada court files.

The screen reinforces why registration scope, court level, and the MEC start date must be checked before treating absence as a release finding.

Grenada County Recent Release Limits

No verified official Grenada County current roster, recent-release view, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, archive, or Sheriff mobile app was found as of the research date. The former sheriff domain did not resolve. Generic sites made update and roster claims without a traceable government feed, so those claims are not used. The proper conclusion is that no verified public feed was found, not that the jail keeps no records.

For a recent event, ask about one named booking. Request the actual time, whether the person entered the community or transferred, the authority for the event, and any other hold. VINELink may give a specific-person alert when the reporting facility participates, but it is not a backfilled list. A court record may show why release was authorized. MDOC applies only if a state transfer or state status exists.

Note: Tiger Commissary confirms the detention-center name but provides commissary services, not custody status, release dates, or booking photographs.

Grenada County Release Notifications

Mississippi SAVIN and VINE cover participating county jails and MDOC events. Search a specific person by the fields offered in the live interface, choose Mississippi and the correct agency, compare identifiers, and read the event text. “Released” means the reporting system ended custody. It may still describe a transfer or lead to another system.

Registration can send release, transfer, return, escape, or abscond alerts by channels offered at the time. Telephone alerts use a PIN, but no supported PIN length should be assumed. Mississippi's Registration Link may carry an alert registration from a county jail into MDOC or another participating agency. This is especially helpful when a Grenada County transfer might otherwise look like final release.

The official SAVIN notification page describes this transfer-aware service.

The state page supports prospective alerts, while the Sheriff's or MDOC release entry remains the durable record after an alert arrives.

Grenada County Registry After Release

The Mississippi Sex Offender Registry is relevant only to qualifying registrants. It is not a general list of Grenada County released inmates. The public search may show a photograph, aliases, residence, conviction date, and offense. Mississippi ties required registration activity to release for covered people, so it can form a fast post-release trail in the narrow class of cases the law covers.

DPS warns that conclusive identity may require fingerprint comparison. Corrections can be directed to MSOR@dps.ms.gov or 601-987-1540. A similar name is not enough, and registry presence does not establish facts beyond the legal registration duty. For every other person, use the Sheriff, court, MDOC, SAVIN, or federal path that fits the known custody.

Grenada County Federal Release Checks

The BOP inmate locator is more explicit about former federal custody than MDOC's current inmate tool. Search by a supported federal identifier or name with optional age, race, and sex. Results can show a Release Date and Location. BOP explains that a past date with no location, or a “Released” result, means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out supervised release or custody held by another agency.

ICE's Online Detainee Locator is current-only, not a release archive. It uses a nine-digit A-number plus country of birth, or exact name and country of birth with optional birth date. USMS has no public person locator. If a Grenada jail entry says “released to USMS,” county custody ended in a handoff. The federal docket, USMS records, BOP, and possibly ICE must complete the chain.

The official BOP locator shows the federal search route.

The captured locator is not a Grenada County jail list. Use it only when a federal case, writ, hold, or transfer appears in the record.

Grenada County Release Source Comparison

The same name can appear differently as control changes. Use the tool for the custody system it actually describes, then obtain the operational entry when the event matters.

What if two dates conflict? Ask what each timestamp means. Use the facility's actual departure time for physical release, the court filing date for legal action, and the receiving agency's admission time for a transfer.

Grenada County Detention Center Identity

The one confirmed detention facility in the county is the Grenada County Adult Detention Center, also called the Grenada County Detention Center. It is a county jail operated by the Sheriff's Office, not an MDOC prison. A current Tiger Commissary facility selector independently uses the detention-center name, but the vendor portal handles commissary services and supplies no released-person search.

No current official source confirmed a separate Grenada city jail, state prison, federal prison, or ICE detention site within Grenada County. Grenada Police is an arresting agency. For a city arrest, ask Police where the person was booked, then direct release questions to the actual holding facility and case questions to the right court.

Community release, transfer to MDOC, transfer to another county, and handoff to federal or immigration authority are all possible recorded paths from the county jail. The Grenada County release entry should name the actual outcome.
