Detention Center Release Paths
Grenada County Adult Detention Center is the county's confirmed local custody facility. A person may leave it in several distinct ways. Community release can follow bond, dismissal, another court order, or completion of a local term. A sentenced person may instead move into Mississippi Department of Corrections custody. The jail may also transfer someone to another county, federal authorities, or immigration authorities. Secondary jail listings place the detention facility itself at 37 Doak Street and give 662-226-6212. Those details should be treated as telephone-confirmation leads, not official published jail contact facts.
Do not travel based on an assumed exit, release schedule, property desk, or waiting area. No official source verified processing times, an exit door, property pickup rules, weekend or holiday practices, transportation, or a family waiting space. Call before making plans.
Request Detention Center Release Records
A useful request names the booking and asks for operational facts. Give the full name, date of birth if known, approximate booking date, and booking number when available. Request the booking/release log entry or release sheet, actual date and time, disposition or authority, releasing facility, destination or receiving agency, and any recorded hold. Ask for the existing booking photograph as a separate item, and prefer electronic copies.
The Mississippi Public Records Act, Miss. Code §§ 25-61-1 et seq., broadly covers records and photographs held by public bodies, subject to procedure and exemptions. City Arrests and Detention Releases
The Grenada Police Department is an arresting agency, not a confirmed current detention facility. No current official source established a separate municipal jail. For a city arrest, contact Police and ask which agency booked the person. Then direct the release question to that facility and the case question to Grenada Municipal Court or the proper county court.

Old federal census material once named a Grenada City Jail, but a decades-old census cannot establish a current facility. That is why the facility map includes only the county Adult Detention Center. Creating a second release path from stale material would send readers to an unverified custodian.
Detention Center Vendor Is No Locator
A current Tiger Commissary selector independently uses the name “Grenada County Detention Center.” This helps corroborate the operating identity, but it does not publish current custody, recent releases, release dates, disposition fields, or booking photographs. A vendor portal should not be treated as a public jail roster just because it asks users to choose a facility.

The image confirms a vendor relationship and facility name only. Release confirmation still comes from the Sheriff's release entry and the next responsible agency.
Detention Center Transfer Records
When the Grenada County release entry names MDOC, search the official state inmate tool by name and by MDOC ID when known. A location and “Tentative Release” belong to state custody. They do not show community departure. Later parole can be checked through the separate parolee search and the Grenada Probation & Parole Office, while actual discharge and sentence computation belong to MDOC Records.
A federal transfer needs a different chain. A local notation such as “released to USMS” shows county custody ended in a handoff. USMS has no public person locator, so use the federal docket and defined records request. BOP may later display a Release Date. If immigration custody is plausible, ICE ODLS can show current qualifying custody, but no result is not historical release proof.
Mississippi SAVIN can bridge some participating agency moves through its Registration Link. Read each alert by event and reporting agency. A transfer alert, delayed entry, or missing current result should never be rewritten as full release without confirmation from the actual custodian.
Keep the county departure and receiving-agency admission as two distinct facts. Record the time shown by each source and ask what the timestamp represents. The jail's departure time documents when Grenada County control ended. The receiving agency's admission time documents when its control began. A gap between those entries may reflect transport or delayed data entry, not release to the community. When dates conflict, ask both custodians for the underlying event record instead of choosing whichever website changed most recently.
